Jared Raphael Malsin is a journalist reporting mainly on the Middle East.
Malsin has contributed to TIME, VICE, Foreign Policy, The National, Salon, Columbia Journalism Review, OpenDemocracy, The Huffington Post, +972 Magazine, and The New York Times blog The Local East Village.
In recent years he has reported on the ongoing repercussions of the 2011 revolution in Egypt, the Occupy Wall Street movement, the destruction wrought by Hurricane Sandy in New York, the Palestinian bid for United Nations recognition, and the aftermath of the 2008-2009 Israeli operation in Gaza.
He spent two and a half years reporting from the West Bank for the independent Palestinian news agency Ma’an. He served as Ma’an’s chief English editor.
Malsin graduated from Yale in 2007 with a BA with distinction in political science. He is currently a graduate fellow at New York University in journalism and Near Eastern Studies.
